DNS - essential maintenance - Maintenance completed

We are conducting essential maintenance on our DNS infrastructure overnight from 23:45pm on the 2nd until 04:45am on the 3rd of April 2014.
We are also going to test new DNS servers to add additional capacity. If integration is successful we intend to make these new servers primary, also during this window we will test failover and synchronisation between the DNS servers.
Some important changes:
- external recursive lookups against our DNS servers will be restricted in future to our customer IP ranges ONLY

We advise customers to use a mix of DNS servers for resiliency (ours and others), public DNS servers are available by google on 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 and we encourage users to use to add resiliency to the metronet DNS servers. Customers whom have resilient DNS servers defined should minimise the impact of any disruption.

We are now going to reschedule this work from 23:45pm on the 3rd until 04:45am on the 4th of April 2014. Some issues have come to light during our verification procedure tonight and to avoid problems during the failover testing we wish to give ourselves another 24 hrs of build and test time in the data centre.

This maintenance slot is now completed. We have retired the old DNS servers during this maintenance.

Please be aware DNS lookups cannot only be performed from metronet customer ip addresses to the metronet DNS servers at 77.75.184.4 and 77.75.184.5 and not third party ip addresses.
