Root Cause
Recent traffic flow optimization changes were implemented in the London DC. Following these adjustments, increased traffic generated by several customer services led to an unexpected overload on the aggregation cluster’s processor.
The processor protection mechanisms were not fully aligned with the new traffic patterns, which resulted in performance degradation on the aggregator.
Throughout the incident, M247 NOC and engineering teams worked intensively to analyze the abnormal load behavior, correlate traffic patterns, and validate multiple hypotheses in order to isolate the exact trigger. The situation was escalated internally and handled with priority, with dedicated resources focused exclusively on restoring service stability.
Resolution
Processor protection parameters were adjusted and optimized to ensure stability under the updated traffic conditions. After applying these changes, the aggregation cluster returned to normal operational levels.
Additionally, further monitoring and validation steps were performed to confirm long‑term stability and to ensure that the updated protection mechanisms fully support the new traffic flow model.
